I like the poem, Zzin. 'Incestuous', GW; by the way, I see Bobby D. Nov. 22 in Fairfax--was he any good? Lucid?

I'd like to read about 4 more stanzas, rzrgrn. Seems to be the start of a poetic story.

You're on to something, here, danll; perhaps just a few word tweaks. Reminds me of John Lennon's "Julia" and "It's just the Motion" by Richard and Linda Thompson.

Makes me wish I had a fireplace; but, I do have a chiminea. Dylan Thomas wrote of "the mulling pokers" in 'Child's Christmas in Wales'; reminds me of that. You two literary femmes, if you like craft-brewed beer, must try Raven lager our of B'more, MD. I served it for 3 hours this afternoon at an Arlington Oktoberfest shindig--I was a volunteer for my homebrew club. It would make the perfect ahhhh brew to enjoy in front of the hearth.

No worries, justice finds a way. When it started last week, some people immediately jumped to "Arab terrorist", just like they did with the Oklahoma City bombing. Methinks, like with that event, this is one of our own homegrown wackadoos. NRA bumper stickered, military or police experienced, white anglo saxon protestant fucked up guy.

Thanks, yes, I usually rewrite poetry 83 times that I first wrote years ago, then post it; but, I've been influenced by some of ya'll posting freshly written poetry and since the gas station where Dean was shot is 8 minutes from my house, and I've bought gas at the very pump where Dean met his maker, I just thought I'd throw something together. As the Clash sang "I fought the law, and the law won"....they're gonna get the sorry sumbitch who's doing all this shooting. 7 deaths from 9 shots in 7 days.

...but this haiku smells nuthin' but fine, fine, fine. I believe the term most widely accepted in academe is fiddle. As in, Ah do believe ahm fixin' tuh play this'n here fiddle. If you do rosin up the bow, be sure and do your best Irish American tribute with a hearty round of Lannigan's Ball. Thereafter, Fox on the Run.

The nick is the distinctive, final, signifying mark of the creator of art, the slight imperfection reflecting the author's unique ingenuity while admitting with humility the imperfection of mortal existence before the pure presence of the almighty represented by the observations of others.

Where are those TPC report covers, Lnshdw? Your poem, although you can cinch it even tighter, already puts a noose of quiet desperation 'round me neckbone.

I like this poem, Lmns, good luck with tightening it up. I saw the new Harley V Rod up close, yesterday. That's a hot looking motorbike; but, I'd swap out the solid alum. wheels for spokes.

First off, thanks for this site, Nntwnd. This haiku reminds me of the lyric from the LP Up the Down Escalator: "had a minor, misunderstanding, with a street lamp, one night". Can you name the artist?

PAKI, you keep popping up like an unwanted postule. Lenore, you must see, if still rentable, the 1969 film, "The Conqueror Worm", with Vincent Price. Priceless, unique, disgusting, the bane of all wiccans.
