Re: First Confirmation by babyBOOMER 6-Mar-03/2:09 PM
This is strong, and very timely, given our current state of international affairs. I want to read more of your work, bB.
Re: Weekend at the Taj by <~> 20-Feb-03/1:26 PM
I like it, Zzin. I was stuck at Timberline, WV, ski resort with 10 housemates; officially: 46 inches of snow in 3 1/2 days. I concur, cabin fever has no pity.
Re: a comment on Starving at Tiffany's by horus8 11-Feb-03/1:04 PM
Say 'Unique New York', BZB.
Re: a comment on Love Under Will by Tyriana 5-Feb-03/1:51 PM
Hey, Zzin. First time I check out the 'ranker in months, and I post an opinion within 1 second of yours. Funny.
Re: Love Under Will by Tyriana 5-Feb-03/1:50 PM
Ooh yeah, I like this, even if I don't understand it. The words 'Under Will' seem to make sense; but, not sure how 'love' figures in the poem.
Re: "Why would I need to get in touch with you?" by Limness 18-Nov-02/9:10 PM
I like "The mean in between".
Re: I'm a homicidal kind of guy (spoof of every 'down-home' song you've ever heard) by Yardbird 18-Nov-02/8:31 PM
Reminds me of that mathematican turned piano playing social commentator, Tom Lehrer, and his dastardly ditties such as "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" and "The Hunters Song", among many others.
Re: a comment on My love for another. by cleverdevice 15-Nov-02/1:03 PM
...or soles, or shoals.
Re: The Wooden Armchair Of Similar Dreams by Caducus 14-Nov-02/2:01 PM
I like it, Cdcs. I would, however, like to see wenches associated with more positive elements than 'stench', perhaps 'wymyn's wenchly winsome wyles and wunnerful quenching...' something, something; they deserve it. Not sure about 'derelict peace'.
Re: An Exercise in Futility by loneshadow29 14-Nov-02/1:51 PM
Lnshdw, even this sort of poetry should probably steer clear of the word 'nothingness'. Makes me wonder why we don't have the word 'somethingness'.
Re: Search of Love by loneshadow29 8-Nov-02/8:40 PM
Well, it's all about the search, now aint it?
Re: Necromantic Boo-boo by razorgrin 8-Nov-02/11:50 AM
"live and learn"...or die and dine; your choice, rzrgrn. I think it's hard to beat "Freaks" (1933?) for sheer skin-crawling revulsion inducement.
Re: a comment on A dutch poem (just a joke) by susie 7-Nov-02/6:13 AM
Ya'll are right; Oranjeboom to that.
Re: a comment on Dead Poets' Society (Joke) by Yardbird 7-Nov-02/6:10 AM
Frass means that wonderful fungus, lichen, in German. My band currently covers two Y'bird tunes: Heart full of soul, and Jeff's Boogie.
Re: a comment on Dead Poets' Society (Joke) by Yardbird 6-Nov-02/8:36 AM
I instantly like anyone named after the greatest Brit rock band, ever (I CHOOSE to see your user name this way). Evil hearted you, heart full of soul, smokestack lightnin', train kept a rollin'....
Re: A dutch poem (just a joke) by susie 6-Nov-02/8:26 AM
I'll guess that you deserve a 10; but, alas, I don't speak/read/write Dutch. Seems to rhyme. Methinks this the first completely foreign language poem on this site. I'll have to cook up one in German. Isn't Dutch just English and German thrown together?
Re: Dead Poets' Society (Joke) by Yardbird 6-Nov-02/6:36 AM
Yon Sir Yardbird, your deft wit is deliver-ed with panache and quick dispatch. Hurrah. No pissy little comments from me.
Re: Elegy for Lonnie Donegan by Nicholas Jones 6-Nov-02/6:31 AM
"Well, the Rock Island Line...". How many Brit and US musicians did Lonnie influence? Impossible to measure. A seminal artist in the history of RnR and folk rock. On this side of the pond, we just lost Adolph Green.
Re: Hells Game by Katie 5-Nov-02/1:25 PM
Strong writing, Katie; I think of two cowboys in a duel, gangs, etc. 'The anger is hereditary' makes me wonder. You gotta keep 'em separated; teufel hunde.
Re: .:|Mindfucked|:. by emman 5-Nov-02/1:17 PM
I'm curious about line two; Swedish? From this poem, I thought you were a male. "Just to seem more human" but, the result is seeming more like an emotionless automaton.
