Your tempo is not consistent, nonetheless your message is conveyed loud and clear. Cheers to that.

I like this but the better part is the title which is accurately and pin-pointedly attention seeking. You definitely got her to read your piece. Congrats.

By the way, I wonder who this freak is - voting a -0- without commenting, on quite a lot of poems, one after another. I couldn't help but notice it, and was curious to know why. You have a rival.....pass him on to me.... he needs a dose of some 'happy pills'.
that said, your piece is pretty good, considering you want to describe relatives the way you did. My point however would be the title.... "an ode to my Idiotic Relatives". Might not make a difference, but that's what I felt as soon as I read it. Just a matter of opinion!

I must say, you are so pessimistic, like you have no hope in life....uck! Forgive me, but somehow, I don't seem to like your taste. You might not see me reviewing much of your poems, though I'd like to see some life in them, so please don't be disappointed.

Re: Us Sinners by BrandonW |

Isn't this supposed to be a 5-7-5 count... I see it as a 5-6-5 count. am I missing something?
About the haiku, one thing I have noticed, though, is that although in daily life we have nothing to do with God, he has found ways of getting attention...and Brandon you are one of his many media. Ignore Him more and He will find ways of making many think about Him.
Now for the next part..... I really wonder if it would be a good scene in heaven....having zodiac and dovina together with the rest of us poemrankers. Afterall, hell has had enough of them, from how I see it.

I'll vote an -8-. A nice piece to think about. the wild cat with the mastodons. Very imaginative. I've been trying to think of something different when I came across your poem. Pretty good.
Now for taking your advice,....lol... but I did.
Check out my poem 'such is a child's heart'. I'd value criticism more than a vote. Do me the honors and check it out. Thanks.

Re: The Book of Images by Dovina |

Dovina.... very good. a good collection of images. I think I will vote you a -10-. I have been reading all the reviews here, and have taken note of advice given, for you to improve on your style, or write some matter of your own, (not to copy ideas) or to read other major poets(eg. Keats) etc. what I would like to point out is that, almost everybody copies ideas, or copy the style of some poet or the other. If Keats could have his style, or Blake have his, I don't see why you can't have your own style or view on what you want to present. So for that reason I think I'd vote you what I did. Am I being abstract?

Reading all the stuff put down here, I'm inspired to write a poem titled "Dreamer". As for your poem.... its good. its got matter and a sense of imagining where you are.

Isn't it supposed to be size 11 soles? (U wrote 'souls') Is it to imply anything? Nice poem..Good story. Prose form good.... though I would have liked it in shorter lines. Seems to take away some of the emphasis. But the story.... I have to give it to you! Cheers!

Good theme.... but I think I would prefer it shrunk a bit. There's too much repetition of words or phrases. Looks like you stretched it a bit just to portray matter. All the same... there's some good stuff here, esp. if you edit it a bit.

I'd prefer not having the lines too long. To me, it takes away the effect of what you want to say. You have good matter, and a good theme, good adjectives to describe - (eg. mystic traveller,), but it needs a bit more editing. I can't pinpoint my finger on 'how'. zodiac and alchemy are good at that. could ask them. But on the whole it's good stuff.

I loved this. Makes me nostalgic. where I come from, we had to travel by boat to go to Girls High - to the mainland. And on the way we'd see the porpoises jump gracefully. It was a beautiful sight. By the way, whats a Nikon. don't know that. as for anoraks, isn't it some kind of a thick jacket? good going zodiac.

Zodiac...As you can see, I have been trying my best to understand haikus and yes, thanks a lot for your FINALLY frank remark ( or is there more to it?)...ha ha. No offence!
I agree, I have to improve on my quality, but aren't I getting somewhere. Besides I've come across a phrase
"In the kettle of tenderness the rain sweeps".... what could it most likely mean or imply. I've got quite a few ideas in my head, but I think I would go for a second opinion.
Still no chance of chat?

I don't know anything about Afghan style, this tells quite a bit.........or it is probably of just one area, like Calcutta being refered as India, though just a tiny part of India.
