Racial Hate (Free verse) by Glasseyez
Black or white and red all over Blood is red and knows no color Skin black or white or yellow, brown This liquid always finds the ground Race is only skin deep so why is it that we Use it to judge each and every person we meet Blood has one color and our hearts do too That is red only changing when we are dead In which we return from the dust we came No man is different we are all the same….. Stop using race to fuel your rage.

Your tempo is not consistent, nonetheless your message is conveyed loud and clear. Cheers to that.

a) Blood is blue when starved of oxygen, and white blood cells are white (okay, you want to kill me now)
b) I think it would work more effectively in prose form

What color is the heart again? http://tuberose.com/Graphics/Bypass%20surgery1.gif
Blood is red usually but of different shades.
If you think I'm nitpicking you're right, which is my point. Although yes we are the same on a grander scale, we are also different in little ways. We have evolved to become sensetive to these tiny differences so that we can better identify each other(so you don't go hugging every old man you see on the street and calling him grandpappy). Racism is just an unfortunate biproduct of an essential evolutionary trait. Maybe if geneticists learn how to turn blacks white or whites black then we'll all be better off but I doubt it.

Alchemy, racism is unfortunately a biproduct of 'evolution'. But the problem lies in the fact that a lot of importance has been given to the differences rather than what we are. There are a lot of prejudices against people of varying nationalities. And just because one may not be white, (figuratively speaking), it doesn't mean he doesn't know how to be a human being, or he loves less. I can tell you that my Indian brothers and sisters are treated with less dignity in many parts of the world. Once a person knows that he/she is an Indian, there's immediate discrimination. In many circumstances they're even treated as 'untouchables' or even 'a nuisance'. I can even vouch that for the blacks. I've witnessed a couple of uncomfortable situations which have made me think about this a lot. I was quite liked Dovina's poem - 'mixed Quartet' - why don't we all sing together in unison and harmony with our differences rather than play in a one-man band eg. Amanda goes solo. Think about it. Would you take a second look at me if you were to meet me in person?

Oh, Ok. I think I know what you mean now. I'm part American Indian and for thousands of years they have lived without racism not only because of their simularities but because they believed everything is equally important in nature. Am I on the right track?

Believing everything is equally important in nature is very good. But, feeling and experiencing the reverse is quite another issue.
[8] ALChemy @ 24.74.100.11 > amanda_dcosta | 29-Jan-06/10:08 AM | Reply
So everything in nature isn't equal or of equal importance?
[8] ALChemy @ 24.74.100.11 > ALChemy | 29-Jan-06/11:32 AM | Reply
That's great but I'm afraid after doing some research I discovered that it turns out when the American Indian first migrated here they weren't the first. The Asians had been there first. They had populated most of the continent.
So the Indians Just killed them all and took over.

So it turns out what man is and what he thinks he is are usaully not quite the same thing.

Amanda. You, me, Dovina and everyone else on this planet are racists. We're born that way. That's the way we were, are and will be for a long long time.
What's that, you don't believe me?

"Don't ask me about what they do. If I were to follow them I would definitely end up inside the institute and not ouside where I am right now. You name it, they have a ritual and god for almost anything under the sun...even the sun! Nuclear war? They'd probably worship even that if you let them face one."

Well now you know
and knowing is half the battle.
Yoooooo Joe!

Glasseyez, you have no comment on what's going on? Sitting back and enjoying the debate, aren't you? :-) Enjoy!

You know, there's a scientific theory that kinda agrees with you.
It's called the string theory. I'm really in no possition to preach to you about racism while you're stuck in another country with millions of people who hate you for nothing but racist reasons. I just wanted you to know that it's OK and natural to feel or have racist thoughts as long as you don't act on them or let them effect your logic too much. Just like it's OK for you to think Tom Cruise is sexy as long as you don't cheat on your husband or become obsessed with the movie star.

Tom Cruise - sexy? No way! His acting only irritates me. As for Tom Hanks.....he might be a better choice.

Racial identity is a nessesary factor in identifying ones cultural compatibility, yes, because lets say you were white and you were in a situation where you had to choose between a group of caucasians and a group of inner city black people. Of course you would choose the group of caucasians because it is a group that you can visibly relate to. That isn't the issue. Racism though is the ignorance of the fact that you are both of the same species, you both have feelings, and you both have compassion for others. Some people do lack compassion and those are generally bad people, but by condemning an entire group of people because you saw one muslim blow himself up, or another gang shooting on the news is very easy but it is not right. It is up to everyone to stop classifying people as good or bad and just try and relate to the things that we do share. It might be more than you think.

All you can really do is identify a racist thought and then find a mature way to squelch it.

I like that you want to speak about this, and applaud your effort to do so...that being said...the first four lines made me think you were going to go someplace interesting with this piece...but then it got messy and didn't say anything else new or well-said. I'd say goback to the drawingtable with the first four lines in front of you...and go from there, again.

I read that in tests if you place a blanket over the face of a mongoloid baby it sits there placidly. If you put the blanket over the face of a caucasoid baby it gently stirs. If you put the blanket over the face of a negroid baby it throws the blanket off and shoots you with his oozie. I therefore conclude that your poem is factually inaccurate and written by a dimwit. :(

I find it interesting that you have seen a baby weild an oozie firstly. Secondly that you are throwing blankets over babies faces. I could imagine no baby to like having a blanket over their face, they would probably all cry no matter the race. I admit the poem is not well written compared to others here, but I assure you that the message is accurate and it is quite sensible. But many people have their heads too far up their own asses to grasp that.

I find you very ignorant. This is a true story.
