Minus the ampersand, this is decent. But maybe it is the fact you like the Eels, who are quite possibly the most underrated band ever. Who knows?

Much better, but ditch the title.

It is up to you Dolie to save the fate of English literature. Go now to the towns, to the country, rid the isles of cultural mediocrity. Ring your cowbell in the night, line them up, make them take notice. Take away their TVs. Do you prefer goats over pigs? Do they have souls? It is good to see you keeping with current events. This will get the Hours8 journalism approval.

I suggest in the future stealing from more obscure poets. These are too easy. Z do your thing! Must you continue these games. Do you write your own poetry?
Re: she said by Bill Z Bub 4-Dec-02/7:08 AM
Excellent last stanza, although I am not a fan of the "yearning souls" bit. I realize it is important to the overall rhyme scheme, but the souls part good go. Call it "For a Good Time, Call".
Re: Poem For Times Such As These by Nicholas Jones 4-Dec-02/7:15 AM
I think you have thirty poems here, not one. Tackling it all at once is a bit like a survey course in contemporary history. And that is what the poem feels like. If you take individual concerns from the poem and give them personal anecdotes you might achieve what you are looking for: to be revolutionary. I think all these issues are important to rip into, but if you want to affect change maybe you should not overwhelm the reader.

Now Nicholas Jones, your task is to counter this with Rousseau, hence, "Sovereignty, being nothing less than the exercise of the general will, can never be alienated." One, two, three....go!

This is quite the ode to kitty. I shall read it to my love as he ponders away beside me, the ever fickle companion. Most excellent last line.

Is this like a short rap song. It has that Yo Yo hippity hop flow. Send one out to the peeps!!
Re: nothing, as today by <~> 4-Dec-02/7:57 AM
I am not the fan 1) of what if poems and 2) questions in poems. The questions are what we ask ourselves to get to the point of some sort of answer or resolution, which is the poem. But that is only my opinion. Intransit gave you a big score and he is obviously the general audience.

Was something changed here; why did this come back up. Hmmm. I looked but still seems like a hippity hop song, eh? and the space ? is still there. Hmmm.
Re: Tribute by UAFANTHORPEY 4-Dec-02/8:30 AM
Is this like the poetic version of the Tenacious D song "Tribute"?

I just love the hardcore English gangsta poems. It makes me want to explore further the mean streets of the criminal metropolis we call London.
