Re: a comment on Unfortunate Lover by elderking elderking 209.79.199.111 26-Jan-06/10:19 PM
Oops...I meant sometimes I hurry a poem along instead of just letting IT finish "cooking" in it's own good time. Sorry bout that.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sometimes I hurry a poem along instead of just letting finish cooking in it's own good time. Thanks again

Then you voted too high.

I don't get this one. It doesn't seem too clear to me about what you're trying to convey.

Well, I took it for a reference to church naves and to "knaves."

Smart sounding words. Sounds mostly like an excerpt from a sociology book.

What 2 meanings of nave do you mean?

I like the title.
Re: a comment on Tree of Life by ALChemy Dovina 69.175.32.104 26-Jan-06/1:57 PM
That's a great scene. Wish I'd gotten it.

No, not really.

You've given in to a popularized box called life. There's more out there than you say.

You have a worthy subject for a poem, and in some ways it's a good poem as written. I say this because it's poorly constructed and incompletely thought out, which reflects the key line, "I used to be deep but something happened."

Thanks for the comment. The title is merely angst at how many times it takes in the boxing ring for a country to get it. Nothing special about the number 27. The “paling” bit could be rewritten for clarity: “a viral infection permeates the collective mind, emitting technological devices, and erecting for itself a fence of sharp sticks, pointed upward, which serve as a neat collection of standard excuses against anyone who objects.”

Shouldn't you have given me a lower score then?
Re: Round 27 by Dovina ecargo 167.219.88.140 26-Jan-06/11:55 AM
Double meaning of "naves" here is clever. What do you mean by a "paling of standard excuses" (it's the "erecting a paling" that's throwing me off)? I don't get the title.

Sorry, couldn't get into it.

Nice, except the punchline ending.

Hmmm. Not bad

Truth is, I've not read any of their books. I've not done much on lit and poetry and how I write is what I've been brought up with. I didn't take lit in college...maybe would have done better if I had.
