Re: Numbers In Heaven by Dovina Scarlett 70.171.72.141 27-Mar-06/6:43 AM
Plenty of replies to sift through, interesting and some humorous I must add. My take on this poem is rather simple, that 183 is just that person, that next soul trying to find her own significance in the scheme of things. Aren’t we all? I enjoyed this and appreciated the attempt at defining the importance of being ~ 183, as if a person but taken in numbers.

Re: Toasting To Our Wedding Night by Beyond_Dreams Scarlett 70.171.72.141 27-Mar-06/6:21 AM
“wedding night” and “murder” an interesting combination, makes for an interesting poem. It gets a little eerie and ends well ~ much like the combination. Nice format of the stanzas.

"-and I shall make you fishers of men." -Some dude.

Maybe I should convert to Islam. Allah is so much easier for a dyslexic. I suppose I could refer to the Christian god as "Am I that, am I?" or pronounce Jesus as Sausage but that's a mouthful or maybe I could put on my Sean-Johns and walk up to the lord like "Yo, what up Dog?"
Re: a comment on Buddy by ALChemy ALChemy 24.74.100.11 27-Mar-06/12:16 AM
I think you mean a palindrome number. A dyslexic is more likely to see L4L than 747. I'd drive 52 in a 25 zone whether I was dyslexic or not.

Good thing there aren't letters in heaven like there are numbers. Botching "dyslexic" would surely kill your chances with the Eternal Y.

Isn't amazing grace already directly in your path? Must you search for it? And don't you already know how to change your life? Sorry, but it seems you are asking the wrong questions.
Re: Sensually Literary Villanelle by bwaha Dovina 12.72.25.146 26-Mar-06/5:28 PM
I've been a fool, and I've written instead, and I'm still a fool, easily led. I wish I could get it together like you have. Good Villanelle.

I hope it never gets bearded with baggage like that one. And numbers in heaven are where it's at. 747 is a cool, dislexic number. 25 is not, when it's a sign, and you're driving 52.
Re: Tulip by richa amanda_dcosta 203.145.159.44 26-Mar-06/10:24 AM
I think your title could have been ' Tulip boy'....it's more focused on him. and line 8 could read ' with neither purse nor name'. This is pretty good and conveys a scene I remember from Mussoorie (India) at the base of the Himalayas, where I first saw tulips.... the red and yellow flames. Keep writing!

I like the coupling of your explanation to your poem.. maybe you could add a line in about your mother being in the reflection and not just you..? Just a thought.

This is turning into the bearded Jesus limericks. Here you go: I once made a god-proof hat like the one worn by Arafat Now I work at 7-11s and Highjack 747s 'guess numbers are really where it's at.
Re: First Snow by http://mulberryfairy Scarlett 70.171.72.141 26-Mar-06/9:54 AM
I've only seen snow a couple of times in my life, when I visited cousins in Maryland and a ski trip in Colorado.. We had snow the winter before Katrina ~ something rarely seen in New Orleans. I have come to associate one with the other (snow ~ hurricane), oddly enough and hope to never have snow here again. Though the joy you expressed in this poem makes me long for a mountain trip before it melts.
Re: Pledge by http://mulberryfairy Scarlett 70.171.72.141 26-Mar-06/9:39 AM
I found this poem quite fascinating ~ to watch the “me” and “I” disappear, finding a hollow place to hide the emotions and personal experiences. Also enjoyed reading your response ~ one of my majors back in college years was sociology and I considered the field… but part of what you wrote, the secondary traumatic stress disorder ~ it does take a thick skin and a special person to not internalize the abuse, yet be there for the person. Kudos to you for your chosen career.

The last line is good, but the rest needs attention to construction. Make it more poetic.

Oh, you're no fun today. Here let me kick start your engine. Godproof Hat by Alchemy I used to think God was very large cat With teeth in my neck like I were a rat Then he kicked me outside Where I hollered and cried Now I wear a cat-skin hat

Too late. Already taken. Godproof Hat by Dovina Oh, for a hand on my cranial hair In place of god’s that isn’t there To protect from theistic wrath and such Provide a gentle protective touch Perhaps a goklike Buddhistic affair
