That's not entirely fair; I gave a six yesterday but the poeme got resubmitted and the vote was lost in the bow'ls of deletion.

Thanks, Supreme - I did intend to return to this a while back but never got round to it. Maybe I will in the coming weeks, especially with the suggestions (yours and others') which are certainly clearer than this poem is in its current format ;-) It's not even worth a seven as of yet but we shall see what an edit can do for it. Thanks once again :-)

that morning, i was deeply and emotionaly week. some days its hard to function, or even move. getting up to eat can be a task only to hope for. its an emotional struggle i live with. the word should be weak

Saw a film about John Callahan, the cartoonist. He writes beautiful songs too - he's also a very good cure for the inflatable kind of self-pity you're exposing here.

This is very good. Reminded me of the time I was in Chios, made a trip to sit on Homerâs stone. Great view there (closed my eyes, tried to hear some sirens singing - only nagging kids, a mother yelling. The sea).

Just a minor suggested revision:
Out alone in the winter rain
Happiness is high there, sky is up
I remember those tears of joy had hidden
Behind drops of rain
Iâm still singing in the rain
And all memories flow upward
Inside consuming bliss.
Cheers

It's because you got the maxim slightly twisted. Try: "It's better to give than to receive." I bet she liked the flowers.

This needs a bit of consideration, and more defined shaping of the scene.
While the title presupposes the theme, it as it stands now is a little confusing to me; basically, I'm wondering if you have a pretty good image & mental snapshot of the of this man, posed in that odd bodily articulation assumed just before & during the coveted arrival of deathly-bliss; the opiate rushing
of the soul towards oblivion...
Or if he just discovered that it was laced with acid and had a sporadic thought, or image, of enhancing the coming madness with the consumtion of an bloody orange.
In short, I'd be happy to see this piece recieve some sharper definition. The image and thought this poem grasps for is worth perfecting. Till then, mate, heres a seven.

A very sad and deep poem Ranger. Ghosts have a habit of haunting you for years and then suddenly fading away back to eternity just when you need them most.
Here in the Jungle the tribes pay homage to their ghosts all the time and have places to honour them. Some people may say thats weird but its strangely compelling and helps them and me to talk to people who have gone.

Ranger, you are probably right but the whole Cartesian
mind-set seems to be fair game though rather abstract which makes for a difficult subject to write about.
Thanks for the read and comments.

Ranger your average vote is 7.94 - you really are too cheerful.
There once was young chap named ranger,
Who'd place his poor life in grave danger,
He wandered 'round town,
With a smile, not a frown,
And hug and kiss a complete stranger.
That is easily the softest most gay poem I have ever written, clearly you are infectious.
