Zodiac, Can you smell Europeans, or what? And what do you mean by 'writing the same poems about America over and over again'? Certainly the states of Russia or Bolivia have their own Doris Day phenomenons, but that would be no fun, right? What I smell here is something of the notorious arrogance of Americans, who often seem to have no idea - or find it obvious - how much impact their culture has on Europeans. I love that culture as much as I abhorr it. And such usually turns into fascination. And fascination is always a good base for poetry. No, the poem isn't ripped off a Blur record. I hardly know who they are. The poem is a joke, and -weakly- based on a gimmick. I've done something alike with titles from Dutch movies. I'm quite fond of Miss Day, I had no intention to insult the lady but I'm quite sharp by habit. Not knowing Rock Hudson is a bit reprehensible, don't you think? The man's related to AIDS, a tragedy that no doubt generated a lot of poems. Again apologies to Doris, Rock was a very dear friend of her. I had quite some trouble to get the punctuation marks right, they kept turning into 'A', same happened with the copyright symbol. I'm surprised that copyrighting your own work isn't done, here. Yes, I know the site in itself is a protection (of intellectual property, we call it overhere), but I think I simply have the RIGHT to sign my own work. I also make it a habit to include the year of creation. I even mention revisions, if they are drastic enough. Should it come to some legal battle over my poem, I have also that date to back up my property. Thanks for your reaction.

Allright, let's go British: Yes! In my home this wonderful product stays! is what famous footballstar David B. says I no longer roam! Oh how fully convinced I am now: an Old Spice Girl a day sings the hooligans away!

Zodiac, (big smile) Don't you ever forget that the Italians made and still make the best ice cream in the world. Why do you think this is about the Civilian War? These things also happened in South Africa, you know. But I admit that the poem was in fact inspired by the remembrance of an episode from the tv serial 'North and South', in where WASP Kirstie Ally runs off with a juicy slave. I'm still not totally content with the results. I have the feeling that after the part where they smell each other up, (ah, those bad old pheromones) a stanza is missing...what do you think?

Stay in touch then! You could exchange e-mails. Go for a coffee once in a while. Hold hands and remeber the good times. Love the poem, it obviously comes from the heart.
