Horus before we both get bags under our eyes and go mental : I accept why you felt incensed we are both passionate souls and when things get heated our emotions boil over. This powm was only based on the events of the holocaust nothing more, nothing less but I have learned that this is a subject NO ONE can touch on without courting a mixed response. I believe we grow up and are taught in a dubious curriculum of politically selected history (I'm not that gullible that the german race believed in hitlers causes) But I have learned (like you) to search for the darker sides of humanity and shine a light on it. This was a light that did not reach you and I do not believe in the succinct nature of a poem one could capture the whole story. That is why I chose a chapter in history and to be honest horus reflecting on our exchange I am pleased we have disagreed and oyu have enlightened anyone who will read this whoi may not have known of why the nazis persecuted the Jews. I think due to our passionate natures we are bound to wind each other up, you wrote a poem about the pig and jew and I called you a hypocrite. However you asked me once I you could trust me, and I KNOW I can trust you as you know things about me no one on p/r knows and that was my choice because I respect you, your a ballsy guy who lives his dreams something I used to do and do no longer. Therfore to conclude I wish to offer no hard feelings and to thank you and the rest of the commentors for such a knackering but apt discussion. Warm regards Mr Pig. (let their be love again)

I agree Durt that Schindlers list, The Uprising, And the pianist have raised the issue as far as a mainstream audience would accept it but considering the scale of murder I would say a crappy god sprayed statue is deserved for the way it was portrayed. I mean Schindlers list was a 3 hour film and as most people would know Paramount Pictures and Universal etc would take a lot of convincing to release a 3 hour film (profit comes to mind) BUT if they mentioned the Jews pissing the Germans off it would be a 6 hour film and widely regarded as missing the key point. Can you imagine JAmes Cameron directing Schindlers list? Uuurgh the thought scares me.

I am curious, I am understand you are Greek in Origin and from some of the poetry you have written it seems to me you are proud of this. Was it not the Nazis that killed 1000s of Greeks in WW2? Imagine the Thracian mountains you wrote about covered in swatstikahs. You do realize that Hitler only believed the Aryan race was pure? he considered EVERY other race impure which makes us in Hitlers eyes dead. And I am off to Cephalonia in October and its a beautiful place. Now H8 I love you to bits but I'm taking a raincheck on this one we'll have to agree to disagree. Phew I'm out of juice.

I know my history, Crystal night, Long of the long knives, but more importantly I know the fundamental differences ofwrong and right and no one in these horror camps deserved the degradation. Do you really think the Nazis sought personally out the avaricious Jews who were decimating their economy? do you think that Hitlers plan to exterminate EVERY jewish, man woman and child and unborn would give the Aryan race the God given right to take over the world. I cannot believe what you are saying ! If Hitler were alive today there would be no Jews, My mother would have been a prostitute and the economy would be dictated by a Psychopath, Our children would know no freedom, no star spangled banner, no right to vote, no right to speak out which we tonight have had the freedom to do and diplomatically disagree. I have to say that the very monopoly the Jews had in the depression era America and England have today, but do we go and kill everyone just to eradicate a race we dont like? Yes some extremists do but not on the same scale as Hitler. We are too clever for the propaganda machine, I have nothing but contempt for Hitler who I must state was real and the Devil is the closest living proof you have to Hitler. Close your eyes for one moment and imagine a black child screaming for his father, he has seen his family shot, the child knows nothing of war, religion, politics, history, then the child is gassed and dumped in a mass grave left for the flies, ask yourself what he died for? Now open your eyes and just for one second imagine that the child is someones you care about. Fuck the German people, if we tarred them with the same brush that you tar the Jews with they would have died straight after the war. I am no Jew, No christian, moslem or pagan but I am someone who knows right from wrong. And Horus, you mentioned in your other comment that younger people would not understand my poem, well can you explain how they would understand a poem about the terrible plight the jews caused the Germans? No one cares because in contrast its a flea rather than a fly in shit. The poem was merely written with good intention and I have been to Sobibor, I suggest everyone goes there, or a trench from WW1 I owe my life to those who gave me the right to enjoy the life I live today. I do not owe thanks for that to any German.

I understand your point but this was one of most brutal, fascist and mass genocides the world has seen in a so called 'civilized' world. My life experience cannot be ubiquitous with every event that has ever taken place. I am aware every country has its secrets it would rather hide, the british empire was a brutal regime, so were the Americans in destroying the native indians, the serbians and kosovans, the treatment of allied POWS in concentration camps. I have seen a very interesting true film of a jew hating jews called 'The Believer' if you ever get chance watch it. However you cannot argue that jewish children and infants too young to understand religion or politics and megalomaniacs deserved too die? How as an American did you feel to the Arabs hollering in the streets celebrating the death of the tragic people killed in September 11th? Millions of Somalians die and received next to zero news coverage, yet September 11th dominted the world stage and journalistic events for months and months so I wonder how they feel. I am ashamed to be British sometimes, patriotism is a jaded religion for the common man, you and I are priveleged and owe our liberty to all fallen in whatever war big or small. I have nothing against Jews they have not wronged me (yet) but this poem is about the human condition, courage under unbearable suffering not about a top 20 spot on poemranker. If you tell me what you find incomprehendible I will be glad to explain, this poem took the longest to write than any other I have ever written. Incidentally poemrankers votes are not necessary but your comments will be appreciated.

The opening line sounds like a voice over for a chick flick so lose that, Stanz 2 is the most interesting and I wanted more from it and it left me a bit frustrated for I see you have the potential for possibly a grandoise work. Sorry I wanted to 8 or 9 this but it needs more to it. ^6
