Love the idea. Maybe a serious re-write in the future?

Makes me want to stand up in a room full of poets and say, "Hi. My name is Dan. I'm a poem-holic."

Are you the lightning, the oak or the result of the meeting of the two? I like being the moss on the North side never seeing the sun. The lightning was bright. It was fun to watch.

I believe that the goal of great poets should be to appeal to everyone equally. I hope this edit accomplishes that goal for this poem, my brothers in words.

Sounds like love is a game of penny-ante poker with God as the dealer and the queen trumps the king everytime.

After watching a baseball game or two, I thought that at the beginning of the action the empire shouted, "Play Balls!" So the players aren't supposed to...uh...you know?
On a completely different subject I discovered a cool 'x' on the lower right-hand corner of the comment box. You can delete comments made by annoying asstrological signers by left-clicking the 'x.' It is part of the "freedom of speech" philosophy on poemranker. You have the right to say anything you want to me in comments. I have the right to delete comments. "America, what a country!" J. Haven't been camping for 40 years but this resonates. It is one of 'those' moments that can happen anywhere when you are with 'that' person. Here in LA it could happen at the Mark Taper, in S.F at 'the baths' or in Texas at a barbeque. It needs a bit of tightening to be a -10-.

If you lose the last line, it does paint a picture.
My roomate's ex girlfriend tried to come on to me during a ski trip in West Virginia. She slept in my hotel room on the other bed.
My cell phone has more recent outgoing calls than incoming. My buddy list is filled with people I do not know.

I see where you're going with this poem. I think you could do better if you would rewrite the last two stanzas. You should let go of the uncertainty in the 4th stanza and wrap it up positively in the 5th. So, 'til then a -9- not a -10-.

It's blues. It rhymes. It has meter. It lacks the tension and release of a good lyric. I'm sure if you think about it a bit more, you could make the story move from the fire to the damage it has caused someone.
