Re: Girly by Dovina 5-Feb-05/1:01 AM
As anybody who's read "A Room of One's Own" knows (and that's probably nearly everyone who knows anything), "poetess" and "girly" have never been considered opposing options for women. In fact, poetry is historically the domain of good domestic girls, being usually somewhat shallower and more maudlin than other literary forms, and also easier to write during soapopera commercials. That you don't already know this is yet another stain on your much besmirch'd reputation.

I predict you'll say something about how this poem is not about girls and poetesses, but rather about something unrelated and at present unimaginable.

The past-present mixup in the parentheses is a little off-putting. To say the least.

Have I seen you on "Taxicab Confessions"?
Re: Clouds by dancin_n_da_moonlite 6-Feb-05/1:17 AM
The 'foil' and 'silver lining' part was cool. It doesn't make the rest of the poem worth it, though.

I like the last line. I would probably rewrite everything else. Try including some poetry along the way, and maybe making a couple of real sentences.

Re: Lust, and the Sad Soul by woodstock20000 7-Feb-05/12:43 AM
You mean "It shudders in its own immortality." And "its" in the next line, too.

"wonders" should be "wanders". And you can't wander "along" a place. You can wander along a promenade, the bank of a winding creek, or nearly anything else commonly understood as having length. A "place" does not.

Are you leaving California or poemranker?
Re: A Sinner’s Prayer by Dovina 17-Feb-05/4:24 AM
Q: Do you think God reads your poems?

Q2: Do you think God pays more attention to your poems than he does to, say, the Sri Lankan praying 'O God please whatever you do don't send a tidal wave anytime soon, see I just bought this new car and it's a Hyundai with leather interior standard etc etc etc'?

Q3: You're a Christian. I know this isn't a question. If you just admitted you were a Christian, you'd be happier maybe, but probably not.

Q4: Dear me, your 8 months on poemranker have put you on the side of
- preaching
- didacticism
- illogics forcibly repeated in the face of uncomfortable reason
- telling not showing
- flagrant cronyism
- affirmative action
- racists
- misspelling
- more illogic
- and God.

Are you George W. Bush?

Re: Little Fly by PodPoet 17-Feb-05/4:41 AM
Dear Christ. So my wife works in this town called Ghwor, on the site of Sodom and Gomorrah in modern-day Jordan, and says the flies there are so nuts it's worse than Somalian starving baby footage, but what do you expect, most of the townfolk (10% born disabled) squat over a hole in the kitchen floor to go to the bathroom? So anyway, last week they all got Typhoid there, I mean like all of them, and Jesus Christ - Typhoid! Like I didn't even know that disease existed anymore. Anyway I just wanted to tell you I'm with -=Dark_Angel=-,P.I., flies are exactly what we need more of here, and a great way to capture the image of a kinda humming, eyeitching, omnipresent love sent from above. You get my only heartfelt 10 of the day. Enjoy!

In all seriousness, if you weren't so always, "If you want, take all of me; I give it freely" you'd probably get more.

PS-Don't reply, '*glum* I guess, But I can't help being who I am'. I know.

Have you ever actually fucked? I mean, outside your imagination? It's really not that worth dying over. At least, with me it's not.
