Take off that silly cape and stop flapping around Alpha Beta. You're not in Narnia. It's getting embarrassing to be seen with you in public.

I've just discovered something: As a believer, your answer doesn't count either.

Oh, that makes you more respectable. You'll probably be surprised to learn the poem (ie, really a play) isn't actually about Troy or Helen. Dr Faustus, having bargained away his soul for an infinite number of Magic Beans, wishes for Helen of Troy, only to find that she's a fantasy, and therefore pale and mindless. The question "Is this the face that launched a thousand ships?" is incredulous. Faustus doesn't think she's that great.

The point is, they weren't cliches until a really good writer used or coined them all, then everybody started copying him.

Yes, you would believe there are right-brains and left-brains and you're on the side of Good.

It's a sponge tree, grows sponges. Sometimes they wear square pants.

Sounds like a good place to be, Minus-Neverland. I wonder what the tree looks like; The one with the square root that is.

Sorry no sell. You are woman, the origin of beauty.

Mine points to radar love.

Those emotions aren't lost ol'boy. They're right there in black and white. More importantly they haven't been wasted.

No, not really.

Does anybody, really?

Good. I'd shorten the first verse to give it more power: cast upon the canvas, sketched within my past, she waits for me. Or somesuch.

I was young and unexperienced. I didn't know then how to carry loss gracefully.

To carry a loss gracefully is better than theology.

It wasn't the goal. I wrote this poem after a friend of mine died. I was very depressed, and this piece was my way of telling myself even though she was gone, I still had work to do.

So few poems end well. Life should end well, why not poems. Are all poets working against what should be?

I'd like to cash in on that guarantee: "you are a fool to consider me beautiful."

Half-way or not, it seems heaven should not be the goal.
