You and I face each other reflecting our splendid isolations cages with a common door familiar smells pitbulls and poets tired of living hearts grown old. We don’t talk much allusions metaphors food for exhausted hearts. It’s as personal as I can be about the way I see it is with you and hope to see you pleased once more with words of mine.

Bitter resignment. I only take slight issue with the isolation/cages metaphor. It's a little too overused.
Thought about starting a new stanza at "familiar smells"?

I just realized: Two mirrors exactly facing each other don't reflect anything.

Only if there's nothing to reflect. It actually causes a virtual infinate reflection.

I assumed that was the case. We're talking about laboratory/poetry conditions. Realistically, you'd see the frames of the mirrors diminishing to a point.

Realistically, I see my image reflected in his face.

That's metaphorically. Realistically, you're a mirror.
