Math Poem 4 (Free verse) by Dovina
"Square Root of Minus Never"
Square a number,
any number,
negativity never comes.
Even depressed subzero,
made square,
turns a number plus.
And whatâs more real than numbers?
The square root of negativity cannot be,
unless feigning mathematical,
you write fantasy,
give it name,
audaciously â Imaginary.
(square root of minus never,
a better name)
And having crossed a line,
you and they are free to fly
like goblins,
ghouls in Narnia
and Fractal Land.
