I think that pretty much sums up how we all feel, all the time.
Welcome.
this, on the whole is pretty good. I like the lyrical style, you don't often see it written with potential.
a couple of criticisms though;
maybe I'm just stupid but i couldn't figure out what it was about. that's passable though, as sometimes that doesn't really matter.
second, you really went crazy with the alliteration in one of those verses and it totally lost me.
also I like your capability to ryhme and almost-rhyme really well, but i think you may have overdone it a little. I get caught up too much in that and it makes me irritated.
weak verse, doesn't make sense
when I first started reading this, I really like it. I think it flouders midway but regains it's strengh towards the end. there are a few lines that bother me though, especially in the last stanza. I was expecting something that would floor me, but all I got was something that sounded like you gave up. Also, if you revise this, please take the word "etched" out the last stanza. maybe that was what ruined it. I'm giving it a 9 anyway.
Zodiac, you're the only one who comments anymore. I have to give this a 10
Beautifully wrought. Delicious in places -
*maybe* a slight word trim -here and there- but, seriously; an easy ten.
Do you see what you have done here. You have written a poem making ill thought out comments on other peoples poems 'nonsense... disguised as poetry'
Directly after you have stomped your feet because 'a few idiots made stupid comments' about yours.
Not to sound like one of those assholes, but maybe you'd be better off going to my-tragic-personal-experience-ranker or my-true-expression-of-my-feelings-ranker instead of bringing your problems to POEMranker, where contentless scatology-rhyming balladic nonsense always carries the day.
I like the way you have used arbitrary line breaks to turn ordinary prose into stilted poetry.
Hey, congratulations on using "sing-
ing" for a rhyme, a technique which I pioneered in my poem "In Love as in War"!!
And congratulations on using every poetic trick invented by Mr E.A.Poe (including but not limited to repetitions of spooky phrases, spondees, and the words 'fugue', 'gaol', and 'chambers')!!
And I'm not even trying to say that you're such a bad writer. You spell 'tongue' correctly, for one thing, and you've got a pretty good sense of rhythm and so on. But we already had one Edgar Poe and we don't even think he's that great any more. I'd love to see something written in your own voice. I mean that.
This was great - very amusing, entertaining and well written.
And the banter of replies - you guys kill me....
A big stinking pile of pump.
A shitter poem I could not hope to find,
even if I could lick my own behind.
Your poetry resembles a small bubble of fanny juice on the lips of a pederast.
I think you got a bit carried away with being a cock.
You had me up to "Jack Frost's final stand". (That long? you ask. Sure, why not? It's not terrible.) Then you go to the _C&W Compleat Glossarye of Hack Poetic Cliches_ (spiteful wind, anyone? Or ravens? Or wise women's wisdom?) for something like an eternity. Everything from the blue van on is okay again, but the damage is already done. And some of your images seem a little off (cold like a boyfriend's old shirt?) but if you say so.
To Shuushin, re your 'rant' earlier: There are a lot of things I'd get pissed off at here before the two-nickname thing. That is, if chronic gasoline huffing hadn't already killed my ability to experience real emotion.
shut your racist shit-trap
I like it up to the end, which I don't get

Why "to live" twice?
Why "dies," not dead?
The means to the end does not justify it.
