Spring Rolls (Free verse) by Ranger
Spring rolls in, served on the new year's platter Wrapped in a pastry of sunshine and rain Containing a multitude of colours Strands of flowers And biting cold Takes a mouthful To savour the spicy aftertaste Of summer

Up the ladder: For Horus
Down the ladder: <Haiku>

Sorry dude to tell the truth this peom is kinda lame. No offence to you or anything. Just A question Is there some hidden meaning here that we're not getting? Just asking.

We had spring rolls on New year's eve. As opposed to my longpig suggestion. I dig spring as a season, though not as an odour. 8, as it caused me to think of at least two things while reading it.

That's okay, I get the impression that it's not that great as a meaningful poem...I've got plans to change it, but it'll take a while.
See ya monday!

'of sunshine and rain
Containing a multitude of colours
Strands of flowers'
That's good.

To savour the spicy aftertaste
Of summer
And, that's good.

Clever.

The word "pastry" ... just doesn't strike me as the right word, but I can't come up with something better, so maybe it is. "biting" cold... hmm not quite right with me either, but maybe that is just spring in Colorado.

The spring roll metaphor works to evoke the variety of weather, color and life of spring.

Spring over here bites, gnaws and chews...trust me on this!

You're in Wales, right? Is it true what they say about Cader Idris--that if you spend the night atop it, you come down either mad or a poet?

No idea, I'm living here as a...ssh...as a student...so my heritage is English - but I shall have to find out in the summer. My New Year's resolution was to explore the country of my residence a bit more, when I have some money I might buy a decent pair of walking boots and terrorise some ramblers. But not until the summer.
I did climb Snowdon once, the 'hard way' (i.e. by train). It was quite impressive at the top, despite being one hundred percent inside a massive cloud.
