be the shadow at my heel,
the glistening of my brow,
my halo and my crown.
For I am yours truly,
the incarnated ideal

Mother be my refuge

Ever read 'The Thunder, Perfect Mind' (from the Gnostic Gospels)?
No, but a couple months ago I was scanning through a couple articles and even saw a show on the History Channel-(I think) about the Gnostic Gospels. If you've got a link to that I'd be more than glad to take a look at it though.

I was looking into the Mary Magdalen stuff a while back. She get's very poetic when she talks about Jesus. Thank God I kept my poem shorter than that though.

Yes, anyone discovering this site in two thousand years' time will certainly have their work cut out. How many poems has it accumulated in the last 5 years or so - fourteen thousand? More? Even Christ didn't give rise to this much literature. I guess that makes nentwined some sort of prophet then...
Awesome. I like "violets to violence"-that is beautiful. All the lines fit very well together...I don't see where you could make any improvments. The only thing I don't like about this one is how it makes me feel incompitent as a writer. thanks a lot. ;]
After reading the comments here and on a few other pages, I've realized that when you leave for a while and then come back..you have no clue whats going on anymore...nice poem by the way..Tommy likee
Alchemy, I didn't quite fit in with the first verse. It was rather deceptive. I thought you were praying to God your Father, and that's when I got into the second verse. It go me off balance suddenly or rather off guard. It's written well though, if it's to your parents.

"It" is probably accurate enough.
"Despite" probably is too, especially if you assume the archaic meaning - "contempt" or "scorn" - which fits nicely with "hag."

Thing is I'm by no means anti-English. I'm anti anti-American English twit. A title of which Ol' Edna fits perfectly into.
You see, I wouldn't mind that much even if you were anti-English, as I'm pretty sure that you would have some sort of thought behind it. As opposed to Edna who seems to have absorbed all the political nous that comes from using The Sun as toilet paper.
In any case, we're not exactly the most credible nation at the moment. And I don't see it changing in the near future :-(

The first verse sounds like Jesus talking to God the Father. But the second doesn't follow the way he spoke to his mother. Still, I like and relate to the second verse better.
