The Perigenetic Prayer (Sonnet) by ALChemy
Father live through me, be the shadow at my heel, the glistening of my brow, my halo and my crown. For I am yours truly, the incarnated ideal and the dream unbound. Mother be my refuge from the tempest and the temptress, (My desires for the sirens lead from violets to violence) be the quintessential muse for you are the empress that rules in serene silence.

Up the ladder: Break Down
Down the ladder: Sacrament

Imago and Poe must be a couple of your favorites.

Good research. What name do you use over there?

Ps. Don't snitch.

No, really, I just ran accross it. You can delete these comments if you have some riddle, and it's coming out too soon. I really don't know Imago.

Imago died young of self-embarrassment and he willed his stuff to me.

Was he a Withering Rose?

Har-har:)

Let me know if you spot any old ones you like. I'll tell him to post them.

I read a couple of them. His voice seems so different, and I've never gotten the hang of that bad ass rhyme he said I have in me.

That's because you're writing Dovina poetry. It's what you expect Dovina to write. I bet Dovina has a sister that can write some bad-ass rhymes.

My sister was saying just today:

I once had a good friend in black
Who felt a strange twinge in his back
With blood on my knife
He fled for his life
And we never quite got in the sack

Tell her to sign on. Maybe she'll put us all in our place or at least a chosen few.

Well, having satisfied my immediate concerns, let's see, what is you poem about? I feel almost Catholic reading it, but confused by "perigenetic" which led me to Imago. Had to look up perigenesis: "A theory which explains inheritance by the transmission of the type of growth force possessed by one generation to another." Still scratching my head on that.

The first verse sounds like Jesus talking to God the Father. But the second doesn't follow the way he spoke to his mother. Still, I like and relate to the second verse better.

It's just about the spirit of your parents staying with you like guardian angels.

Don't under-praise yourself. Even Bertrand Russel sounds like the Bible if read with just the right amount of wine.

Thanks, I discovered once while in art school that "The Shining" is the funniest movie ever if you're sloshed when you watch it.

Yes, and -=Dark_Angel,P.I.=- is hilarious with Southern Comfort.

No, I'm thinking his humor is more pot induced sarcasm and so is best a-la bong.

Wow.
Ever read 'The Thunder, Perfect Mind' (from the Gnostic Gospels)?
[n/a] ALChemy @ 24.74.100.11 > Ranger | 9-Feb-06/7:06 AM | Reply
No, but a couple months ago I was scanning through a couple articles and even saw a show on the History Channel-(I think) about the Gnostic Gospels. If you've got a link to that I'd be more than glad to take a look at it though.

I have no idea about the program, I discovered this during research. It's about the Divine Feminine, so the second stanza in yours reminded me of it.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the link.
I was looking into the Mary Magdalen stuff a while back. She get's very poetic when she talks about Jesus.

Thank God I kept my poem shorter than that though.

True, otherwise I'd still be reading it...plus, if you want to hide your poem for two thousand years you won't need a whopping great urn either.

"whopping great urn" Sounds like a great description for this website.

Yes, anyone discovering this site in two thousand years' time will certainly have their work cut out. How many poems has it accumulated in the last 5 years or so - fourteen thousand? More? Even Christ didn't give rise to this much literature. I guess that makes nentwined some sort of prophet then...

Awesome. I like "violets to violence"-that is beautiful. All the lines fit very well together...I don't see where you could make any improvments. The only thing I don't like about this one is how it makes me feel incompitent as a writer. thanks a lot. ;]

After reading the comments here and on a few other pages, I've realized that when you leave for a while and then come back..you have no clue whats going on anymore...nice poem by the way..Tommy likee

Alchemy, I didn't quite fit in with the first verse. It was rather deceptive. I thought you were praying to God your Father, and that's when I got into the second verse. It go me off balance suddenly or rather off guard. It's written well though, if it's to your parents.

How Dovina.

Sorry I didn't comment earlier. I simply can't think of what else to say.

Yeah, it does kinda remind me of her stuff.

What's the use of having perfect grammar if you're still just a vulgar hag despite it? Tell me that, Gov'na or me-lady or whatever you are.
[9] Ranger @ 62.252.32.15 > ALChemy | 1-Nov-06/2:20 AM | Reply
"It" is probably accurate enough.
[8] Dovina @ 12.72.37.83 > Ranger | 1-Nov-06/10:22 AM | Reply
"Despite" probably is too, especially if you assume the archaic meaning - "contempt" or "scorn" - which fits nicely with "hag."

Thing is I'm by no means anti-English. I'm anti anti-American English twit. A title of which Ol' Edna fits perfectly into.
[9] Ranger @ 62.252.32.15 > ALChemy | 1-Nov-06/2:25 AM | Reply
You see, I wouldn't mind that much even if you were anti-English, as I'm pretty sure that you would have some sort of thought behind it. As opposed to Edna who seems to have absorbed all the political nous that comes from using The Sun as toilet paper.

In any case, we're not exactly the most credible nation at the moment. And I don't see it changing in the near future :-(
