"America The Beautiful" (Free verse) by jroday
America, America the world's greatest land. The land of opportunity if you're from China or Japan, a land where all your dreams can come true, freedom of speech and equal rights; liberty is for which we stand. America, America the world's greatest land. A land where space travel is more important than finding a cure to a disease that could save a fellow man. The richest country in the world but yet not enough to spend to house, cloth, and feed its own homeless population of men, women, and children. A greed hungry land where people will do anything to try and pull off a million dollar scam. The land where the illusion of birds in the bush are more valuable than to have one in the hand. Where rules are made to back up the actions of drug kingpins, mob bosses, the rich; of coarse; and let's not forget the con-artists called businessmen. In exchange for campaign contributions to the crooked politician. America, America the world's greatest land. Whose leader feels it is more important to invade someone else's foreign land, instead of protecting and securing his own home land. People of America it is time to unite, fore united we all stand. Let's put forth the effort together as one people to bring peace back to our land. God Bless America The Beautiful and save her from destruction by the hand of man.

That it is a fantastic anthem for all the confused members of the human race. Your various points seem to be:

1) America spends more on space travel than finding a cure for disease. I believe US companies would love to find a cure for AIDS and cancer as it would make them more money - I don't believe there is a direct correlation between the budgets of NASA and Pfizer.

2) Because America is wealthy it should not have homeless people. Bow'ls.

3) The law backs the wealthy against the "people". Bernie Ebbers would probably back you right to the point where he goes down for 80 years.

4) By invading a despotic state whose main aim was to cause as much turbulence in the Middle East as possible the safety and security of the United states has been in some way compromised. How many terrorist bombings have there been in the USA since the overthrow of the regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan?

5) Never has the USA been more united never has a president received such an enhanced majority in favour of his previous term in office, never have so few disgruntled lefties whinged quite so loudly.

According to tradition, it's the young who raise rabble and carry signs with four letter words and protest everything the establishment is doing. Unless you're younger than I think, we have here an exception, an atypical bandstaner, a non-stereotype. Rant on!

I wanted to read your "what have you" but, as an American, I couldn't be arsed.
