Being (Free verse) by horus8
To think I've spent my entire life waiting. To catch up with what I thought you wanted. Never did I assume I'd passed you at birth. Do we pick our parents, or do they pick us I've heard both sides speak repetitively. Ask yourselves, "What's that to do with living?" When I look into my son's eyes, I see promise. And I don't care for a second who selected who. Love is not about choosing, it's about being. My guess is that the universe reveals no secrets we already didn't primordially suspect or know. I know that I've learnt what not to do, from you.

Up the ladder: End
Down the ladder: Drunk and Fucked Up

I liked "I see promise" (in my son's eyes).
But, don't we choose who we love, that is, except our children?
Also liked "I passed you at birth" (!!)

I've never choosen who I've loved when It happens? It's fast, unpredictable, powerful, and like watching a child being born, it's unstoppable, but it's later on in the relationship when one decides whether or not 'to keep it going' that's the only choice.

I liked this - the possibility that your child was destined to be yours. Sometimes it's hard to remember that in the midst of math homework that they just don't understand (and, in their opinion, never will). Hold onto that beauty - as they grow, somedays it's all you've got...

Congratulations on the Top 20 coup. Jeremi still looks like A.C. Slater, though. -10-

re: Shuushin's "yeah... about that..."

- I think he does (look like Slater) - which I hope you will not take as my racist generalization on the appearance of young, tanned, vaguely-hispanic West-dwellers. Certainly not all Latinos look like Slater. Some look like Erik Estrada, for example. Anyway, see for yourself at "http://www.garageband.com/user/horus8". I think you'll agree.

I'm referring to the "coup" as you call it - which I no longer care to discuss.

Beside the point, my eyes have seen plenty 'nuf of H8 in all his glory!

Yes, last time I was in Troy.

It must be raining in Mudsville... I'm Greek and German and Hungarian then, Colombian. And slater is a full 4 inches shorter than me. You obviously know very few Greeks if you think I look Mexican. Then again perhaps you're a blind nigger jew in the wheel chair of projection.

Welcome back. I think Albert Clifford (A.C.) Slater's character was supposed to be Greek, but Mario Lopez, who played him, was certainly Mexican, and currently owns a bar in Tijuana. From him and from John Stamos' character Jesse Katzapolis on "Full House," I derive my entire understanding of Greek/Latino physiognomy. Forgive me my naivete.

Update: I am doubly a dunce. The surname Slater comes from the Orkneys.

Oh...? Well, in that case, carry on.

From "What's in a name? SLATER" (http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DBY/NamesPersonal/Slater.html)

"Are you called SLATER? This is an occupational name and in most cases will have referred to a man who made roofs. The caveat 'most cases' indicates that families with Scots connections and especially if they retain the old spelling 'Sclater' may derive their name from Kirkwall, Orphir or Sanday (Orkneys). There, the use of nicknames prevailed and in this case would have been conferred upon a member of the community who was thought to be sly or cunning. It was derived from the Old Norse 'slottigr' and the earliest example dates from 1492 in the person of Adam Sclater of Orkney.
The name is now usually spelled 'Slater' but 'Sclater' is not infrequent in the north of England and in Scotland where the spelling 'Sklater' was still in use in 1823."

Still no Greeks. Nor Mexicans.

What are YOU on about? The Orkney Islands are in far-Northern Scotland, right?

Yep sure are and the people living there are decendants of Norse men and spoke a norse dialect
...the earliest records are to Thomas le Sclatere (Worcester : 1255), then Thomas Slater (West Riding: 1992?????!!!). nice and accurate init.
