This simple confession redeems the speaker from his own impoverished language. He bears witness to something that eighteenth-century poetry seemed at times embarrassed of. What transfixes him in song is not its content, but its emotionally expressive music. The listener does not understand why she sings in melancholy, only what the emotion itself is.

Thank you. Yes I am impoverished vocabulyricly. I have found poetry to be a fun way to expand myself. I was unaware that this topic was a no-no in the 18th cent. I wasn't trying to impress any kind of emotion with this piece, only trying to raise eyebrows.
Thanks again.

Vegas, Ahhhhhh. Nothing like the taste of shrimp cocktail and old underwear at 4 in the morning.

At first this made sense, then the bit about 3 women to one man confused me, then I thought

the chance of a man holding a position of superiority is 1 in 4 (out of four people one will be a man).
One person holding the given position equates to victory for men everywhere.

Not sure I believe the figures by the way, women outnumber men the most in wartorn countries where the men go out to fight, on the whole.

Anyway an interesting little puzzle at any rate.

Assuming there is a shred of truth to the 3 to 1 ratio, I was trying to say men will never be superior as long as we are outnumbered. Cramming it into a haiku, didn't quite work methinks. Thanks, too.

I don't think people are complaining though.

It was just the odds that threw me.
