You Were There (Free verse) by danevie
When I need a friend to talk to You were there to talk to me When I need a helping hand You were there to reach for me When I'm happy & gay You were there to laugh with me When I'm sad & lonely You were there to cheer me up When I got high scores You were there to tell me "You're amazing" When I got low scores You were there to tell me "It's allright better next time" When I was down You were there to stand me up When I was falling You were there to catch me & hold me with your arms When I was a foolish one You were there to tell me "You're so stupid" When I was sick You were there to take care of me until I feel better When I was crying You were there to wipe away my tears When I'm cold & freezing You were there to hug me like a teddybear When I was lost You were there to find me When I was hurt You were there to ease the pain When I was hopeless You were there to give me hope & strenght to live Now I knew, why you're always there for me Co'z you love me Do you? ------------

you have the disconcerting habit of having someone remedy your ills in the past tense while you are still in the present-----
