one starry night (Free verse) by crwncka1 as i looked toward the heavens
on this one dark starry night
i was in search of a shooting star
i was back home on this one night
where i was raised
just standing out in the countryside
in the tall grassy plains
hearing the sounds
of the night creatures
a locus here
a cricket there
even in the far distance
i could hear the yelp of coyotes
yes out here the sky is clear
especially on this one dark starry night
without even a single cloud in the sky
on a new moon
and then it finally came
just before the dawn sun rose
i saw a shooting star
in the far eastern sky
