one starry night (Free verse) by crwncka1

as i looked toward the heavens on this one dark starry night i was in search of a shooting star i was back home on this one night where i was raised just standing out in the countryside in the tall grassy plains hearing the sounds of the night creatures a locus here a cricket there even in the far distance i could hear the yelp of coyotes yes out here the sky is clear especially on this one dark starry night without even a single cloud in the sky on a new moon and then it finally came just before the dawn sun rose i saw a shooting star in the far eastern sky

Can a single locust be heard, and if you heard one wouldn't you run screaming into town elling the locusts are coming? Don't they travel in swarms? What, do they go on vacation?
Sweet poem, but locusts?
