22nd Anniversary (Free verse) by Frass
May 8th, a beautiful day For a radiantly beautiful woman like you To breathe in the sweetly scented Blue Ridge air Where you are Too far from here Your star rises amid the herbs and flowers As you admire the bowers along your way Play at life with intensity Lay aside bitter roots and brambles Stay by your own pure inner voice of asurety Surely, your blooming is a loving thing Bathe in langorous fern goddess ablution Your pangs and pains are past Your vibrant solution Is living

Up the ladder: Wednesday's Breaking
Down the ladder: A gift

nice, the way 'bitter' has a positive aspect in this piece. shapes my view of her more than any other, except maybe the last

Thank you, Zinnia. Bitter can be good, when hop bitterness balances malty sweetness in a fine beer. Do you mean 'the last' line in the poem? It's definitely meant to be a feel good poem. Check out my 'Billie's Threnody' for something different.

I can smell those herbs. "Asurety surely", trips up the tongue but makes me smile. Like you say "vibrant", that's how i find the whole piece. 8.

I'm glad this got your mojo working, mojo. Strongly influenced by 'Poem in October' by D. Thomas.
