A Short Letter (Limerick) by Ranger
Today a note came through my door From a friend I've know since long before She said "let us not fight For that would not be right Yours truly now and for evermore" I puzzled it through in my head Thrice more its contents I read I endeavoured to try To write in reply "I don't hate you but love you instead" I wish I were Byron or Chaucer But I would not want words to force her Lest we should forget What it means to regret For at night these words seem so much coarser

The rhyme of Chaucer and force her made me laugh, which is saying a lot. Good work. But I still have to nullify you (get it?) Zero.e

I hate self righteous holier-tha-thou people too. Especially the pope. Cummon, he jacked off as a kid too. U'd better believe it.

Wasn't Byron lame and portly? Don't get me started on Chaucer.

I liked this right up till "so much coarser"!
The rythm is a simplistic one, the rhymes predictable, but it's good, anyway! I would respectfully suggest a fitting ending, that would do this justice.

I tripped over some extra syllables on some lines. Felt a bit awkward for a limerick.

At first I thought, "Byron or Chaucer"? Why not choose authors who used the limerick? But then, the speaker isn't wishing he were a limerick writer - he's wishing he were more eloquent than the simple limerick.
