My Soul Cries Out (Free verse) by amanda_dcosta
O Lord my heart is troubled deep down inside It’s like I don’t know why, or what It is you want me to know. Speak to me Lord all that I need to know And may I hear you whisper Words of comfort. My heart dwells on every word That comes from you Lord. My heart is overwhelmed With doubts and fear And only you can ease my discomfort of spirit. I need you Lord to sense my every doubt And erase those emotions that cause me to Be disappointed in you. I desire your ever glowing spirit. Anoint me Lord. Fill me with a burning desire to please you In everything I do, And may your Holy Name be praised forevermore.

I love how you admit to god feelings many would feel uncomfortable speaking about to god. "erase those emotions that cause me to be disappointed in you" for instance. More prayer than poem but a very good prayer.

Thanks Al. I agree it's more a prayer than poem, but I merely intended to portray my emotion poetically. And as for my comfortable communication to God.... it was my being honest with what I felt.

I agree with Al--and your honest emotions have been sorely missed around here for too long.

Sorry about that Paul, and thanks for the vote and comment. Have been kinda distracted and preoccupied lately. Its good to see that folks like you stick around making PR more cheerful.

Like a psalm. David's were just as honest.

Thanks D. I don't know how I skipped this comment.... and yes, you've picked up on the right vibes. Like a psalm. Honest emotions in prayer turn out like psalms.

There's a lot of this kind of poetry out there - standing out is a challenge.

"And erase those emotions that cause me to
Be disappointed in you."

A clever line - a definate keeper

I think that gospel blues is definitely your forte.

The potential here, in my unhumble opinion, is to go "my heart dwells *in* every word..." and build a house-of-God analogy from there.

Nice to see you're still writing :-)
