Life and Love (Free verse) by windyone
I sit outside listening to the sounds of the night. The wind rustling the leaves in the trees, the lonesome whistle of a train as it passes by. I watch a spider slowly spinning its web near the light. A symphony of dogs howling as they hear a siren in the distance, long before it reaches my ear. A doe and her fawn as they silently disappear into the meadow across the road. I long for the first rays of sunlight, when I shall return home and see the sweet smiling face of my grandson as he slumbers in his crib, secure in the comfort of our love.

Up the ladder: Knives
Down the ladder: Repression

A brave turd, but ultimately doomed. Last words: "I'm going to make it!"

Seems unfinished. Not that you should just tell us the outcome or the backstory, but some clue please.

A poem is never finished, only abandoned.

Sorry, I don't buy symphony of dogs. The last line is a little too straightforward for me. Maybe a little backstory might be good like D says.

How sad....that everything needs to be analyzed...life is to be enjoyed

Even when poetry has a meaning, as it usually has, it may be inadvisable to draw it out... Perfect understanding will sometimes almost extinguish pleasure.
A. E. Housman

And this blankets all people and all personalities? Some derive pleasure from investigating further, and, obviously you can take or leave all comments from us 'rankers.

It's good as is, but could be better with just another clue on what you mean. Such clues, if subtle, do not stop a reder from taking it in another direction. I failed in this regard on my recent posting.

I agree. But for outsiders this poem is too tranquil.

Would you take the above a step farther and agree that, on average, the analyzing person leads a less pleasurable life than the non-analyzing person? Would you consider testing that notion?

***ZODIAC'S SIMPLE TEST***
1) On a scale of 1-10, 1 being 'never' and 10 being 'constantly', how much of the time would you say you analyze things?

2) On a scale of 1-10, 1 being 'not at all pleasurable' and 10 being 'extremely pleasurable', how pleasurable would you say your life is?

For my part, I promise to answer fairly.

Not including the pleasure of analyzing.

I don't think it makes any sense without the pleasure of analyzing included.
