Life and Love (Free verse) by windyone
I sit outside listening to the sounds of the night.
The wind rustling the leaves in the trees,
the lonesome whistle of a train as it passes by.
I watch a spider slowly spinning its web near the light.
A symphony of dogs howling as they hear a siren in the distance, long
before it reaches my ear.
A doe and her fawn as they silently disappear into the meadow across the
road.
I long for the first rays of sunlight, when I shall return home and see
the sweet smiling face of my grandson as he slumbers in his crib, secure
in the comfort of our love.
