Nice, I hope it was appreciated.

Yes, of course I'm using Occam's razor as an argument against God's existence. Then Dovina's "counterargument" was that "Understanding God is not a simplistic thing, as zodiac implies," which is absurd because, as far as Occam's razor applies to the existence of God, the God model of the universe is less simplistic than the non-God model, and therefore less likely. Conclusions: She didn't understand. As far as the argument that there had to be a God to create a universe from zero, consider the following two theories: 1. Some hitherto unknown property of extremely dense supermasses/singularities/whatever allowed the universe to appear from essentially nothing, instantaneously. 2. A Being who does all sorts of things, including creating life, answering prayers, teaching humans lessons, causing miracles, sending His only son to be crucified for our sins, and numbering the sheeps and goats ALSO happened to create the universe from nothing. By Occam's Razor, theory #2 is a load of crap. That's all I'm saying.

I used it in the first poem that I posted here. http://www.poemranker.com/poem-details.jsp?id=126190

There had to be a catalyst, a vagina of nothingness that gave birth to the universe. If not then let's stop using zeros. We seem to always think we're on the verge of finding out everything when the truth is we barely know anything and what the only thing we're on the verge of is, is the limits of our own comprehension. I think what Occam is saying is that saying I don't know to these things is better than guessing. You can't blame people for thinking that you're using Occam's Razor as an argument against God's existence considering it's one of the most popular arguments used by atheists around the world.

I, as many others do, believe that the questions you ask only lend themselves to your conclusion about what the poem means. It doesn't matter what I think about the poem, truly.

Yawn.

Maybe that's why he calls me an idiot, having slid a notch from moron status.

Your poem has 84 hits! With all those people reading it, nobody left a comment? I believe you, but I think it's sad. Those 84 people had some opoinion, even if it was as bland as mine. Unless, of course, someone is twiddling the hit counter at some student union. This is not a bad poem. It shows that you thought about something and put effort into the presentation. I said it was vague, not because you use that word in the poem, but because I really cannot figure out what you are saying. What is dispationate red, for example? How does a bell sound outward? Does not the sound of all bells move outward? How is this bell different? What do the fragile storms represent, and how do they eclipse someone's head? Do the storms speak his/her name?

Or I could be patient, let others read it, hear some good advice, and not behave like a child when the "Mature" Adults say something I don't like. Arguing online is like being in the special olympics, even if you win, your still a retard.

There were no comments. So, I'm gald you personally prefered to leave one.

Things these days? Drinking like a rock star, and studying like one too. I need to cut back on the drinking, and I should probably work harder on my classes, but I'm so sick of school...I'll be done in december and I don't know what the hell im going to do after that. I'm just trying to have a good time without fucking up everything. Haven't had much time to write, I'd like to write something soon, though, and have it turn out as good as this. What about you? How's life in the proverbial "fast-lane?"

Some good lines and some good images. But it lacks the cohesiveness that a compelling poem needs. Specifics are mostly lacking, which makes it sound second-hand.

Obviousdly, you're not considering my benefit. If you were the self-centered one (looked to your own betterment) you would not associate with idiots. Rather, you'd find reasonably intelligent people from whom you might glean an insight or two.

You could improve this poem by voting yourself a bunch of tens.
Re: James The Dashing Pirate(Rewrite) by Luzr Dovina 17.255.240.6 8-Apr-06/11:52 AM
Some good descriptive language. But to make it compelling it needs a stting and specific story or event, otherwise it kind of sies there without life.
Re: Or Outward by MacFrantic Dovina 17.255.240.6 8-Apr-06/11:49 AM
I'd personally prefer that when you edit a poem, you do not delete the comments. This falls flat for me. Too vague.
Re: a comment on The Battle of Fort Bragg by Dovina zodiac 209.193.18.201 8-Apr-06/11:46 AM
I'm not only considering your own benefit. I suppose somehow you're going to try to turn this into I'M the self-centered one.
Re: a comment on The Battle of Fort Bragg by Dovina Dovina 17.255.240.6 8-Apr-06/11:43 AM
I am idotic. Therefore, there is no point in discussing anything with me that an idiot cannot understand. How logical are you for trying?
Re: a comment on The Battle of Fort Bragg by Dovina zodiac 209.193.18.201 8-Apr-06/10:37 AM
God is the Meat-Hat of Invisibility I call upon to save me from poets' silliness. Are you actually illiterate? The article above says nothing about "understanding God". It doesn't say anything about God being a simplistic thing. What it says about God is that a God-inclusive model of the universe is if anything MORE COMPLICATED than other models. Why don't you try reading it again with your eyes uncrossed? PS-You are idiotic.
