metaphorically speaking (Free verse) by somemorepoetry
You've been begging to leave Since you saw that tree Falling, falling, falling If it can move Why can't you Your roots are deep Your leaves are new Forgive me For wanting to cut you down And burn you I am cold You are warm

Up the ladder: Know Me
Down the ladder: a dream

I get the feeling the message is opaque and personal (or maybe I'm just dense), but I like the imagery.

Starts and ends with a nice clear voice, but gets a bit confusing in the middle
