Paint Remover (Free verse) by Samantha
I picture me smiling like i always am why do i lie to myself when my heart is crying you all think i am happy always has a good face on when really i cry myself to sleep dont know how long i cant keep this mask on seems like the paint i put on everyday is running out the smile is up side down so when that time comes when i am no longer able to give you up lifting advice no longer able to have that cheerful face, no longer able to smile, wishing i could but the real me is out uncovered it is no longer possible

I often find running over something at a high rate of speed alleviates this sort of tension.

I think it's fascinating that people wear metaphorical masks to hide their less sophisticated character traits from society. On the outside, I'm a committed Christian and passionate racist. But on the inside, I'm a trenchant buffoon who likes running into cake shops and pulling down his trousers. Masks are important, aren't they?

You run into a cake shop and as one mask goes up another comes down.

Masks can be very important sometimes, but you must be able to remove them, or they will become a part of you.
