Justice Reborn (Free verse) by heartlessempath
From the dusts of time, You emerged. Destined to be more then what you Wanted. Some sad and doomed little girl, Taking up the sword to Protect those who Could not, would not Protect themselves. Blindfolded, you did not see what You were protecting. You never saw Exactly what it was You had saved. And now, so many years later, it occurs to you That maybe, you had saved a monster Justice, please Lay down your swords There’s no need for you here And, I just. I can’t fathom why you haven’t Rusted away from neglect The scales are Gone, the chains Holding the balance broke Long, long ago. Blind Justice, Stand and protect Do you ever wonder when Everyone ceased To need you? You’re a myth to us. Justice. This archaic nobility Only a remnant of something We lost the capability for Long, long ago. Well. Now that you’re gone Nothing real remains To take your place Fill the void. Would you return? I’ve discovered Just how hard it is To carry on without something That’s always been. Justice, rejoining… It’s been hard, I know. Trying to forget the atrocities you’ve seen. That’s what that blind fold is for I can’t imagine the things you would realize Were you to take off the blinds you’ve worn for so long. So you’re trapped in concrete gloom, With broken swords, blinded eyes, and no way out of This labyrinth of gears, blood, and mad laughter.

Up the ladder: Avalanche
Down the ladder: Pleasure. (Leisure Spoof)

A nice bit of prose here and well said.

Some of the line breaks seem not to help though, and serve mostly to remind that this really is a collection of paragraphs within a larger story - with a rushed ending.
