The Price (Free verse) by Bluesee
We reach so much it makes our arms ache
Across electric miles we make the wires hum
In frenzied typed-out words and thoughts we do communicate
Until the din within
The cables stretched does hum
We read until our eyes grow dim
Until a snotty film descends at 3 a m...
Our eyelids droop under the glare of the electric din
And unshakable haze while squinting through the cigarette smoke
We try so hard to be so enigmatic
We type and backslash and backspace over stuff
We want to say but want it to come out just right
But we won't see you
In that pretty dress
