Easter Egg Soup (Free verse) by kthay
I had seven Easter eggs Please notice I said ‘HAD’ I didn’t eat them and they didn’t get lost And they didn’t go mouldy or bad. They didn’t go up the hoover And they didn’t get stolen by hens I didn’t give them away as gifts To a handful of greedy friends. They didn’t disappear by a magicians wand I didn’t use them to bake a cake I didn’t drop them from a very high building Cos everyone knows that eggs break. I didn’t boil them for my breakfast And I wouldn’t boil them for my tea My little sister didn’t eat them Cos she’d never find them see I hid them on my bedroom windowsill Behind my curtains out of sight I planned that they would last me a week If I ate one every night But on their first day in the windowsill The sun shone down really hot My choccie delights melted to mush So Easter egg soup’s all I got!

good that you use only the occasional rhyme (hens and friends) better than leading this story with rhyme.

Kind of fun I think, a childrens poem
A well related story
