Easter Egg Soup (Free verse) by kthay
I had seven Easter eggs
Please notice I said âHADâ
I didnât eat them and they didnât get lost
And they didnât go mouldy or bad.
They didnât go up the hoover
And they didnât get stolen by hens
I didnât give them away as gifts
To a handful of greedy friends.
They didnât disappear by a magicians wand
I didnât use them to bake a cake
I didnât drop them from a very high building
Cos everyone knows that eggs break.
I didnât boil them for my breakfast
And I wouldnât boil them for my tea
My little sister didnât eat them
Cos sheâd never find them see
I hid them on my bedroom windowsill
Behind my curtains out of sight
I planned that they would last me a week
If I ate one every night
But on their first day in the windowsill
The sun shone down really hot
My choccie delights melted to mush
So Easter egg soupâs all I got!
