TRIBUTE TO A FRIEND (Ode) by Nicholas Monson
On Halloween, amidst the ghouls
Was born an imp. They called him Jules!
A cherub's face and winning smile
Camouflaged the devil's guile.
Asleep in bed, he looked a saint
But when he woke, grown men would faint!
On every day (in every year)
He causes chaos everywhere.
Earthquakes can be rather noisy.
So is Jules with "HELLO BOYSEY!!!"
You smile at first to this refrain
There follows then the hurricane.
More easy is to try and stop
A bull within a china shop.
He's best defined by rock'n roll -
All mayhem, sex and alcohol.
Jules is only ever surly
When denied his "girly-whirly".
The law's a challenge, if you doubt,
For Jules to learn and then to flout.
His mission is to give no peace
To friends or neighbours or police.
His picture's passed from state to state.
He's known to every magistrate.
Jules, you are so rare a species
That we all love you to pieces.
You probably don't give a fuck.
But Jules, trust us, don't push your luck.
