Dilemma of a Crip (Free verse) by Ninoy_Instigator
What am I to do. Gangbangers, busters, and killers We were a ruthless gang They are a living remnant of my past Back in the day, when I was a thriller. We were the Crips, the toughest gang No need to be discrete Pistols sounded every week I would fight without worry I'd spit in the name of the street Domain was most important The human ego is morbid If you saw a blood member Or a non-crip C-Walkin' He was as good as dead But I have a huge dilemma, Towards Crips, people have anger I have something more important Someone I care about I can't put my baby in danger. I must abandon my old friends They mean nothing but trouble The streets are polluted Enemies seem tougher Gangbangin' is forever a struggle.

Up the ladder: Forever in love
Down the ladder: ALONE

actually, the first line of your poem asks what to do. this was a respononse. to that query. take your loved ones and vacate the area, quit the lifestyle, just go away--or risk your and their untimely death. (that's the more civil version of what i originally said, but i was responding in kind to the situation you describe in your poem.)

do you always snap like that when someone answers a question you have asked?

Oh ok, I am sorry I see, that was very clever.

apology accepted. i see by your profile that you are young, and a boxer. may i suggest, in the future, that you sharpen your powers of observation before you leap into fights? do not build walls; tear them down.

is it not generally taught in the martial arts that a wise man is always aware of his surroundings, and avoids conflict when possible? i was taught this. i am very capable of defnding myself. i have never started a fight. i have never lost a fight. i have had few, because i believe honor and respect are due all, until proven different.

enough of my philosophy for tonight. get out of the gang, and improve your life. you are looking within by writing and posting here.

I know, I know, I have just been under a lot of pressure from my other poem. I don't know why everyone hates me so much for it. The force of the poem has nothing to do with hate, it is all love, but it brought up so much damn tension. Do you think my poems are too soft. I'm not used to this mushy stuff.

Nobody hates you, least of all me. It's very intense around here. But if you stick it out you'll learn a lot in a short space of time. You are already ahead of the game because you're opening up to dialogue.

To be honest, though I am neither young nor a boxer, I might have taken being told to 'get the fuck out, or die' the wrong way. But what zero says is quite right.

Cript is a big gang where i'm from, there everywhere, and most people here are scared of them. I do know guy's that are just like what you said in your poem...but there haveing a hard time getting out, it's not as easy as it says, but now about the poem, I like your idea for this...it's something no one else here so far I believe has tried, yet stuff like that happens in life...alot. I give it a 7/10 =)

'Towards Crips, people have anger' is tripe. Tripe tripe tripe tripe tripe. Now tripe, when well-cooked with salt, pepper, and a little oregano, can be good enough. In this case, it's raw. It doesn't fit the rest -- which isn't very good either. No feeling of dilemma whatsoever. Blah.
