Bowing at the alter ego (Free verse) by flatliner
johnnie was an everything pretender
living like the man, he was far from tender
walking lifes alleys in the dark and wet
he could roll, over and along, he was set.
Blasting emotions for there needless weight
ready and always there to set you straight.
There is no match for him in sight
not as long as he had the heat to fight.
Proper to dish blame and reap reward
using a tongue, sharp as the point of a sword,
he laid waste to his foe and friend alike
in the name of his knowledge, always right.
None dared cross him or catch his attention
all was as it should be until he heard mention
of a young creature, fair of wit and charm
and looks that certainly did no harm.
A deities bride, a zzinnian beauty, with a razor grin.
johnnie was struck dumb, contemplating many a sin,
attacking, for if not his, none would enjoy
all she was about, she would be his toy.
With the flick of her wrist, words written
his charge was slowed, but, he was further smitten,
could this possibly be love that he was dealt
or was it yesterdays lunch that he felt?
He was an cherub in the dark, royally dashed,
a babbling rabbit, his life crashed.
In passions throws, no longer so fine
he was going down to meet the flatline.
