A Time for More War (Free verse) by dougsoderstrom
For all good men it is a time for more war, A time for the world to try to even the score, Bush has his bombs, Saddam his weapons too, A fight to the bitter end----then the world will be no more!

Up the ladder: Ted and Fred

This is a poetical website, not political.

Dear knickytoy:

I have decided to transform the website into mine own image. Since I, as a close relative to God's wife's husband, am, and always have been, a politico-religious being, I am therefore choosing to allow the website to become as it was always meant to be-----a natural extension of mine own being. I am the website and the website is me. I am the I am. He who accepts my word has life, and he who does not accept my word has not life. It would be better for one to never question the "I am." For in qustioning the "I am," one will have chosen to "no longer be"--------choosing to have removed himself from a state of being to "a state of non-being." I am sorry to be so very blunt with you, however since I am the I am, I have no choice but to tell you The Truth---------- which is that which I am.

so, you are telling us that resistance is futile, and that we will be assimilated? i'd like to see that happen! i will not write about god or politics, but will dwell only on sex and male/female dynamics and more sex and nature and random observations of humanity. so, this is my Truth: I AM God-less.

having a nuke is one thing..guiding it in from 10,000 miles away, another...i wouldn't worry to much if i were you doug...your mail will still be delivered, just never again with the same smile... take the comaout after too, and place it after saddam instead.. more advice..never right simplisticly about politics, war or religion...it turns your shadow into a tailess puppy dog hand puppet..

I like it because it is true. I hope I don't get in the middle of it.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. For me this poem is about typing and nothing more.

W-bubba was just in the Queen City of the Plains this morn boosting the wallet of Wayne Allard who is in a fight for his Senate life. Bushie does not do so well here, (even though our moronic guv is being touted as the next great running mate--the ultimate dumb and dumber); much like yesterday in Portland. Anyway, enough off the top of my head. Your obsession of the brewing battle aside, if there is to be a bout do you actually think it will lead to the apocalypse (that must be a joke i don't get) or just a lapse in policy that will allow W the flexibility to protect US "interests" in other places like Columbia, Iran, Brazil, on so on? To me the policy behind the war is much more dangerous then the war itself, minus the needless loss of lives. But considering your noble stance and poetic activism, wouldn't it be better to write something that is not so blatantly ridiculous? sincerely, poetandknowit, pdD.

Dear poetandknowit:

What is rediculous or not necessarily resides within the mind of the one who is making a judgement. For myself anyway, I believe that it is my right to express my opinion--------------- that an invasion of Iraq could end up having very dire consequences. That opinion may appear rediculous to another, but that is just fine with me. However, at least to me, such an opinion is not rediculous. All of my poetry tends to be satirical. That just happens to be my way of saying things. And when I write poetry it tends to be of a satirical nature about 95% of the time

But it is not really coming across as satire like a few of your other poems and therefore, in my opinion, it comes out as being straightforward, which, in my opinion, makes it sound ridiculous rather than humorous, which is possibly your intended meaning. In a situation like this you go almost use the tactic of crossing the line with humour which would force people to be disgusted and stunned, but force laughter as a nervous response. I do not know, you are the psychologist; you should really know how to manipulate a good yarn. As far as the actual recourse, I agree, but again I think it lies in the current policy that is before congress and most of the agenda is being puppeted through Bush by DICK. This is all his policy. He was spouting "pre-emptive" way back when. Invading Iraq is only a first step. Did you read the policy? It seems we no longer respect the concept of sovereignty considering we will no longer allow any other country to compete with us as a military super power. So does this mean pre-emptive strikes are in the future toward China?

Dear poetand knowit:

You are probably right. My poem was rather straight forward, no doubt. Part of the satirical part was in the reference to----For all "good men"------. Paradox-----good men war is bad, etc.

Anyway I do agree with your assessment of thw war, it seems And yes, I have read at least a portion of "The policy statement." And in my opinion it is absolutely arrogant----In fact I see it as pitiful! WE HAVE BECOME ROME!!! And given that possibility, what might that portend for us? And unfortunately, all of this may well mean several pre-emptive strikes.

And one more thing. Is it possible to spell Iraq as in OIL

Doug?

This is irony, right? Let's hope so.

Dear Nicholas:

I guess not. I guess what I said in the poem I believe could be true. I hope that it will not spell the end, but I do honestly believe that our President and "his boys plus one Condelessa girl" are in the process of leading our country down the drain into an amalgamous mass of fire and brimstone and death.
