pep talk (Free verse) by ay deee
settle down
now
we've got to get this done
there ain't a thing
scarier
than a man with a gun
wearin' a hairy shirt
where efficiency
meets the streets
we'll be
elegantly
snug among
shares of boot tread and
rich red thread
stitch me up captain
slap hands and act younger
shit i've got a helluva hunger
platters of pinpoint
accurate blood splatter
brick clatter glass shatter
batter
deep fried on a bed of
green jacket tattered
i wish this fight mattered
but i'll keep my piece clean
as long as the feelin's right
and the wage is green

what's so bad about the rest?
you know, a hair shirt worn by someone with something to prove
a discomfort for its own sake
but i still don't understand what is lacking in the rest of the poem...
