Barditus Dei (Free verse) by antoniojl
I see them again, now Marching through red seas Dying tides with blessed rain Screaming in my name... Screaming in vain. Well, are you fighting for God Or praying for war? Charlatan chaplain cants faith Preaching last rites For last wrongs Little knowing that pious pleas Are less use to fighting men Than a prayer before the war In God ye trust But mans hand guides those missiles Not mine Another sacrifice Another war crime. Gods men may yet fight in hell... Themselves. They fall in faith Fatal folly Failing to find The truth behind Their armoured minds Jew, Gentile, Nazi, Nato... Its Just war. But yet more rounds fall to the floor... As before. And still you fight your holy wars And curse your foes with holy words And carve your graves in graven cross When will you learn In war, salvation's lost

We might never, alas, you have unearthed a treacherous cycle and an unparalelled fact. propsn
