Hard Rock (Free verse) by Dovina
Precambrian limestone
worn by waves
fossil shells of living done
crustaceans
before humanity was.
Hear their voices
billions strong.
What do they say
across the years?
The cliff is high
and ruptured deep
but not so high
I could not jump
and fall cushioned
on a bed of sea.
It takes a careful plan
to land unwounded.
Choice of place
choice of time
makes all the difference
as every crustacean tells.

Then I realized what a stupid thing it was to say that.
