Peridot (Free verse) by horus8
I believe in a lot of strange things, But you, my gem, are from outer space Hair so black I can't find where It stops being you, and becomes - - The night. Star-eyes, vibrating With atomic need, and life, such as - - I've never seen -- Been colors, Thousands of light years away, From where I begin each day; Without you. I recall you smelled Of fresh green apples and afternoon - - Cut grass. And could you dance A tornado, I thought, taking Men, women, and children away By the armful, by the song What went wrong had absolutely Nothing to do with either of us I am a volcano, you are an ocean I am a spider, you are the web I am a mountain, an eternal devotion But you are the sky, what else can be said. What odd sounds these old trees, And stones make for me mother Now that I'm not afraid of the dark.

Up the ladder: Time's End
Down the ladder: Phoebus
