Rebecca, by Firelight (Villanelle) by villy_zee_vanker
Her raven hair falling free, her moon-boned skin Pale in the fire's rough light -- And some ancient goddess turns, restless, within. Sitting close, her elfin chin Pressed against my shoulder tight, Her raven hair falling free, her moon-boned skin... Before us the mountains, dark as sin Darker still than the falling night, And some ancient goddess turns, restless, within. In the swirling smoke sparks fly and spin And my careless hand trails, light Over her raven hair falling free, her moon-boned skin... She whispers and shudders, cold and warmth, as in The fire-gold her eyes burn bright -- and some ancient goddess turns, restless, within. Between dark and light the dark must win The universe burn low, and all within, some far-off night: Her raven hair falling free, her moon-boned skin... But for now an ancient goddess turns, restless, within.

Up the ladder: Sunrise
Down the ladder: white whale
