Stranger (Free verse) by TLRufener
There’s nothing left I’m all alone I’m totally lost I can’t find my way home The darkness is coming To claim my soul I’m spiraling downward Completely out of control I have to cover my eyes To keep out the light The night is too cold The day is too bright My soul can’t survive In the heat of the sun But I know I will die If I give up the fun Where will I go The world is so mean There’s only daylight and darkness But I’m in between Day is too long Night is too full of danger I am forever sentenced To roam as a stranger

Up the ladder: Walls so slight
Down the ladder: Free

I'm curious to know how that picture is relevant to the poem.
