Countervail (Free verse) by D. $ Fontera
Like stripping the head of a screw My mind suddenly went From sharp to subverted Defined to indefinite As we pushed against the wall It drew in closer Only intensifying our plight The burning stench of fear Flooding an already blanched psyche Emptiness reaking havoc on Our pitiless demise Of the wall and all against it

Up the ladder: Thoughts
Down the ladder: A flightless deer

I don't think I really get what this is saying.

My mind suddenly went from sharp to dull when he turned on me and pushed its sharpness against the wall, pressing closer, intensifying my plight, and bringing the stench of fear, flooding me until I felt empty with his pitiless demise.

Or at least that's what I feel.
