The Arms of Your Man (Free verse) by peaceseeker
you said, "well, we are only mortal"
eyes knowingly lowered and averted
to my level, this level we were on
this place I didn't belong
but I love your man, said my eyes
blurred at the sight of you
so sharp your point of view
paralyzed in fear and anger
with integrity, I bared my soul
my sister, I love you so much more
who stays with a rolling stone anyway?
my role so sad as he rolls down betrayal
with commitment as your top card
the ring, the mortgage, the puppy
he dangles for you like a carrot
then mixes my tainted medicine
a crystal rock, its edges sharp
good intentions were its message
smiled high, wrists back, arms extended
into the arms of your man, encircling me.
