Mom Charged With Throwing Kids in River
"ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A mother was charged
Monday with murder and attempted murder for
allegedly throwing her twin sons into the
Mississippi River on the Fourth of July.
One toddler died; the other was rescued.
Naomi Gaines, 24, also jumped into the river,
shouting, ``Freedom!'' on the way down,
according to authorities. She was rescued,
taken to a hospital and later arrested.
Gaines was charged with murder in the death of
her 14-month-old son, Sincere Understanding Allah,
and with attempted murder of his twin brother,
Supreme Knowledge Allah, who survived the
75-foot fall and was rescued from the water
by an onlooker.
The episode unfolded in front of thousands of
people who were at the Taste of Minnesota food
and music festival. Many of the festivalgoers
were settling near the downtown waterfront for
the fireworks show.
Gaines took the twins to the festival looking
``for a friendly face,'' authorities said in
court papers. She pushed her stroller to the
Wabasha Street Bridge, kissed each son and said
she was sorry before throwing the boys from the
bridge one at a time, authorities said.
According to authorities, Gaines told officers
she would ``rather be dead than live in a place
where I'm not free to walk around. I'm not free
to be who I am.'' Police Cmdr. Brian Coyle said
Gaines was clear-headed when she spoke with
police, but he would not discuss what she said.
Neighbors and friends have described Gaines as
a sad and lonely woman. Her sister,
Phyllis Chew, said Sunday that Gaines was
always a `very caring mother' but had been
under `continuous and emotional distress over
a long period of time. '' Gaines has other
children who were placed with relatives,
police said."
When I first read this story I became
really upset. I just kept thinking of all
the words that stupid cunt could have said,
and tapping my foot and shaking my head.
When these thing are occuring in
the heart of America (The mid west)
you just have to say to yourself it's our
fault for being the richest most
socially, individualisticlly
narcissistic Country on the face of the planet.
But no that would be ridiculous.
It's their fault God Damnit, but no...
That some how feels wrong too. Then,
like a lightbulb it hit me.
'It was her fault' for letting it get
to her before the love and trust of
her children could prove it all wrong and
make it all better, but no, "Freedom!".
"Freedom" she says. Yeah,
freedom from what though?
I thought everyone one of us should take a
good fucking look at this story, and be a
little more observant of one another, before
you're fishing your kids out of a river because
you haven't hugged your fucking wife for a year
and call her fat ass everyday.
Of all the fucking words "Freedom!"...
What a waste, that little boy might have been
the first black kid on Mars.
Now he's just fucking free.
She should be thrown back off of that bridge
upon sentencing, and everyone should line up
on the bridge by the thousands and shout
"Fly free!" at her. Then, I might feel better,
but not a moment sooner.
I swear on my soul, not a moment sooner.
Also, I guess Supreme knowledge was better
than Understanding, at least physically.
