For you, I'd make meatloaf (Free verse) by Venus
I can hardly remember now
how all of this got started...
Summer of 1999
you showed up at my door
I was watching Westside Story
when you invaded my world
and you knew all of the words
to "Maria"
I remember wanting to touch you
much to early on
Seeing you
across that garish green felt
at Greenfield's
I remember painting
lipstick on your face
for Halloween -
Shit, I couldn't believe
you were Raggedy Ann
I remember that
you freaked me out,
leaving the bathroom door
open, and your heart
Open,
Just enough room there
for me to crawl inside
And I recall us sharing a kitchen
Working in tandem
making those prosciutto panini's
drinking each others House Cabs
teaching you the intricacies
of my Famous Caesar Salad
It may have been there
in that kitchen
when I knew
For you,
I'd make meatloaf.
